Resource Title Coping and Support Training (CAST)
Summary A community or school-based prevention program that teaches life skills in a positive peer group to build resiliency against risk factors and control early signs of substance abuse and emotional distress. All participants work and support one another towards the three program goals: increased mood management, school achievement and drug use control. Group consists of 6-8 youth, one adult leader and meets for 12 sessions. Lessons are detailed in a curriculum guide with accompanying student manual. Every session ends with assignments for the youth to practice skills in the community.
